Common questions about industrial evaporation, ZLD compliance, equipment selection, and working with Rototech.

Evaporation & ZLD Questions

MVR (Mechanical Vapour Recompression) uses a mechanical compressor to recompress the vapour and uses it as the heating medium — saving 80–95% steam compared to MEE. MEE (Multi-Effect Evaporator) uses the vapour from each effect as heating for the next, achieving 2–8 kg water per kg steam. MVR is better for high operating hours and high steam cost; MEE is better for moderate capacity and lower capital investment.

Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) means no liquid effluent is discharged from the plant. CPCB mandates ZLD for specific industries including pharmaceutical, dye, sugar (distillery), tannery, and pulp & paper. State Pollution Control Boards (SPCBs) may extend this list. Violating ZLD norms risks consent to operate cancellation.

Rototech's EPC scope covers: Process design + P&ID, detailed engineering, equipment fabrication (in our Ahmedabad workshop), procurement of bought-out items, electrical and instrumentation, civil & structural coordination, erection, pre-commissioning, commissioning, operator training, and performance trial documentation. You get one point of responsibility for the full system.

Typically 6–14 months from order to commissioning, depending on: system complexity, civil readiness, and equipment fabrication lead time. Large MVR systems with ATFD typically take 10–14 months; smaller MEE systems can be done in 6–9 months. Rototech prepares a project schedule at the time of order with milestones.

Yes. Rototech reviews your existing biological ETP and RO system, identifies the missing ZLD stages (typically evaporation + drying), and designs a minimum-cost addition that integrates with what you already have. We have executed several such retrofit projects.

Yes. Rototech provides: initial operator training (1–2 weeks), a detailed O&M manual, and post-commissioning support during the performance guarantee period. Long-term AMC (Annual Maintenance Contract) and spare-parts supply from Ahmedabad are available on request.
