Multi-Effect Evaporator
Steam Economy &
ZLD
Rototech's MEE systems cascade vapour from each effect as the heating medium for the next, achieving steam economy ratios of 2–8 kg water/kg steam. Available in 2 to 6 effects for ZLD, pharma, chemical and food industries.

MEE Use Cases
ZLD Systems
Core evaporation step before ATFD/crystalliser in zero liquid discharge plants.
Pharma Effluent
Stable operation on complex API wastewater with regular CIP cycles.
Chemical Industry
Product concentration, mother liquor recovery, and effluent volume reduction.
Food & Dairy
Heat-sensitive concentration of milk, whey, and food-grade liquids under vacuum.
Distillery Slops
Pre-concentration of spent wash before ATFD to reduce dryer sizing and energy cost.
Textile & Dyes
Volume reduction of dye bath effluent with salt recovery before disposal or reuse.
MEE Questions
MEE is preferred when steam is available cheaply, capital cost is a priority, or capacity is very small where MVR compressors are inefficient.
Generally 3–4 effects is optimal for most industrial wastewater. Rototech will conduct a techno-economic analysis based on your site's steam rate and electricity cost.
Yes — hybrid MEE+MVR systems are used for very large capacities where pure MVR compressor costs are high, or where partial steam availability makes a combined approach economical.
