The Challenge

Evaporating RO Reject

When industrial wastewater passes through a Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant, the purified water (permeate) is reused, but the remaining impurities are concentrated into a smaller volume known as RO Reject. This reject stream is highly saline, scale-forming, and difficult to dispose of conventionally.

Rototech designs thermal evaporation systems specifically engineered to handle the harsh, scaling nature of RO reject. By applying mechanical vapour recompression (MVR) or multi-effect evaporation (MEE), we evaporate the water from the reject stream, producing clean, reusable condensate and a highly concentrated brine or dry salt.
